4-Yr-Old Shoots Herself, Father Arrested

Police have arrested a man accused of lying to them about the accidental shooting of his 4-year-old duaghter at a West Side home.

Twenty-four-year-old Lazurus Anthony Gutierrez first told investigators he was walking with the child just before 1 this morning when shots were fired from a passing car, but police didn’t buy his story. They found a blood trail that led them to a home on Park Grove near Pinn Road and Gutierrez was taken to police headquarters for further questioning.

“He later confessed that he had provided false information,” said Greene.

Now investigators believe the child accidentally shot herself in the chest.

“The victim found a handgun hidden in the couch in the living room,” said Greene.

He told KTSA news officers also found two long guns in the home.

Gutierrez is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence. Greene says more charges could be filed as the investigation continues.

At last check, the girl was in critical condition after undergoing surgery at University Hospital.
