WOODVILLE, Texas (AP) - East Texas deputies have uncovered what they describe as a huge marijuana farm consisting of up to an estimated 10,000 plants, some nearly 8 feet tall.
Tyler County Sheriff David Hennigan tells KFDM-TV of Beaumont that his deputies and other law enforcement agencies began removing the plants late Thursday morning.
Hennigan says the farm was the largest of its type ever found in Tyler County.
The farm was found deep in the sparsely populated Piney Woods east of Hillister, about 90 miles northeast of Houston. Hennigan says at least two people have been arrested, but investigators suspect as many as seven people tended the crop from nearby camp sites.
