Border Questions for Obama

By Bill O'Neil and Don Morgan

No let up in the criticism from Congressman Henry Cuellar--as President Barack Obama continues a two day visit to Texas--without plans for a stop along the border amid the continuing undocumented immigrant children crisis.

"As a leader, he will be defined by how he handles this crisis" said Cuellar, voicing his frustration with the lack of a Presidential visit to the border area. The Congressman said the President clearly needs to see what's happening for himself.

"He needs to go down to the epicenter of this humanitarian crisis" Cuellar said, adding "I'm a Democrat, but I will always put party behind what I think is the best interest of the country."

Meanwhile, one state lawmaker whose district includes a large stretch of the border predicts the President will be back.

"I do think he needs to see it first hand, upfront--as many of us have seen it over the last couple of weeks" said State Senator Carlos Uresti, who told 550 KTSA News he's be happy to personally take part in such a Presidential visit.

"Hopefully he will return, and I welcome the opportunity to take him along a tour of my distrcit--I represent about 400 miles of the Texas-Mexico border" Uresti said.
