Thousands of Wounded Warriors, their families and their caregivers got quite a show and a Texas-sized barbecue, thanks to actor Gary Senise and celebrity chef Robert Irvine.

CSI New York star Senise and his Lt. Dan Band, named after his "Forrest Gump"
character, performed Wednesday afternoon at Brooke Army Medical Center.

Irvine, who's best known for his TV show "Restaurant Impossible" on the Food Channel, barbecued enough to feed an Army.

And his secret for good barbecue?

"The secret is keep going fast because we have 4,000 people to feed," said Irvine with a laugh. .

He told 550 KTSA News it's his chance to show his appreciation for our troops.

"I'm a former service member in the British Royal Navy and I truly believe it's our job as TV celebrities to support our men and women in uniform," said Irvine.

Among the invited guests were those who care for injured soldiers.

"They take amazing care of the troops and we can't forget the caregivers or the families who go through the stress," he said.
