City Council to Hear Tip Law Push

By Elizabeth Ruiz

Where is the money going?

That's the question some San Antonio hospitality workers will raise in front of City Council Wednesday Evening--as they continue to push a so-called "Tip Integrity Act."

"The hotels--for example like Hyatt--are charging a 22% service charge to customers who come to hold events in our city, and they're not being clear about where that money goes" said Danna Schneider with Unite Here. She told 550 KTSA News that money shouldn't simply go in to a corporate bank.

"We think that is customers are leaving tips... service charges for workers, that money should go to the workers" Schneider said.
