Could a Texas Senator really hold all the cards when it comes to calls for the U.S. House to impeach Presidentg Barack Obama?
At least one top White House aide thinks Senator Ted Cruz does, pointing to last year's government shutdown as the evidence.
"Five days before the government shutdown, the Speaker said there's no way we shut the government down over healthcare--and low and behoild we did" Senior White House Advisor Dan Pfeiffer told ABC's "This Week", adding "In the House of Representatives, John Boehner may have the gavel--but Ted Cruz has the power."
Speaker Boehner has repeatedly insisted he has no plans for pushing an impeachment effort, and is focused instead on a lawsuit challenging the President's use of exeecutive orders. Pfeiffer clearly isn't sold.
"It would be foolish to discount the possibility that this Republican Congress--at some point in time--would consider impeachment" Pfeiffer said.
For his part, Senator Cruz has not weighed in one way or the other on the recent impeachment talk.
