Police are trying to determine if the decomposed body found at a home north of the downtown area is that of a woman reported missing several weeks ago.
SAPD Sgt. Javier Salazar told 550 KTSA News officers had searched the neighborhood around Paschal Street after receiving a tip that a homicide had been committed.
"We had information that there may have been a homicide involving one of the residents out there. Officers had been searching the neighborhood as they tried to determine if a homicide had been committed and in the meantime, this missing persons report was filed," said Salazar.
Wednesday morning, they returned to the neighborhood and searched a vacant home in the 200 block of Paschal Street.
"We had never been able to get into this house, but today, we were able to get in by using a key and the dead body was found inside that house" said Salazar.
He said the Bexar County Medical examiner will determine the cause of death, but it's being handled as a homicide.
"Due to decomposition it's going to be difficult to make an identification," said Salazar.
