A groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday launched construction of the $28 million Laddie Place Phase III Regional Storm Water Facility, which will occupy the space where the former Northwest Plaza Shopping Center once stood.
County Commissioner Paul Elizondo said "The project is designed with walking trails, new landscaping and trees.....and space for parking. The ponds are designed so that they can be used for recreation like soccer or other open field sports once the project is complete and we turn it over to the city. It will be a place to gather and enjoy a bit of nature right here on Fredricksburg Road."
