Immigrant Round Up Game Raises Questions

By Elizabeth Ruiz

Plans for a so-called "Catch and Illegal Immigrant Game" are raising plenty of questions--and concerns--at the University of Texas in Austin.

Members of the campus' chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas plan to wear signs Wednesday which say "illegal"--with students who capture them getting $25 gift certificates. Organizers said their goal os to begin a conversation on the issue--but Cafe Con Leche Republicans President Bob Quasias said the game gives conservatives a bad name.

"I think it's rather tasteless. When we see offensive terms mixed in with the wrod conservative--it doesn't reflect conservative values" Quasias told 550 KTSA News, adding his group is calling for organizers to cancel their game.

"We think it's important to calle them out and make clear that they don't speak for conservatives. We think their game is in bad taste" Quasias said.
