Latest Pipeline Delay Frustrates Local Lawmakers

By Bill O'Neil

The bright spotlight that has been shining in San Antonio this week on the Eagle Ford Shale isn't easing the frustration felt by local lawmakers over the latest delay for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar told 550 KTSA News the White House's latest decision to delay the project is simply wrong.

"It is frustrating--but again, the President has made that decision. I hope this is the last delay, and that we can get this done after the election" Cuellar said, seeing the large number of jobs the project would bring.

Republican Congressman Lamar Smith agrees with his counterpart across the aisle.

"It's ready-made jobs--just the kind of jobs he's (President Barack Obama) has been talking about for a long time. Unfortunately, I think he's (the President) playing politics with an important project" Smith told 550 KTSA News.
