By Bill O’NeilIt’s still early in the process—but San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro said a property tax rate increase will not be part of the budget officials are just now beginning to craft for the coming fiscal year.
“We won’t have a property tax rate increase—but I do believe when we get to September, we will be in good shape with our budget” the Mayor told 550 KTSA News. Not that there aren’t particular areas of concern.
“Because of the federal sequestration—some of the social services have been cut at the federal level. So, we’re having to make do and stretch thin there” the Mayor said, adding “As our economy picks up, we’re hoping we can help out in that regard.
