New Alamo Regional Mobility Chief

By  Elizabeth Ruiz

He's a former San Antonio city councilman who served on the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Now John Clamp has been appointed by Governor Perry to serve as presiding officer of the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority, pending Senate confirmation.
"My job would be to work with all the transportation partners in town, whether it's the MPO, VIA, the Advanced Transportation District, TxDOT and try to figure out what our long-term transportation plan is for our region," Clamp said.
One of the priorities is Loop 1604.
"Working with the state of Texas and TxDOT, we've got to solve the problems on Loop 1604 all the way from Highway 90 West to IH 35, and of course, the 281 corridor," said Clamp.
He told 550 KTSA News that toll roads will be on the table.
"They are a placeholder for financing. You can't even get a project off the ground without putting a financial constraint on it and the easiest financial constraint is tolling or the managed lane method," said Clamp.
Clamp is the executive director of the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association. He's a certified public accountant and a licensed real estate broker.
Clamp says he's excited about his appointment as presiding officer of the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority and he looks forward to performing public service again.
