Two very different sides of the gun control debate--with two very different bills filed ont he same day--with half of the country between them. Caifornia Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein said her bill to ban the sale of assault weapons nationally is long overdue.
"I remain horrified by the mass murder committted at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut" the Senator said as she announced her bill's filing.
Meanwhile in Texas--a much different bill was being filed at the State Capitol in Austin.

Texarkana Republican State Representative George Lavender's bill would allow for the open carrying of handguns in Texas. Lavender's bill would extend that permission to any concelaed carry permit holder in the State--who would have to follow all of the other rules that currently go along with that permit.
Lavender tried to pass a similar bill two years ago, but it never came up for a final vote in the Texas House.
