Calling State Senator Dan Patrick a "weak link" for Republicans, Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson is throwing his support behind incumbent David Dewhurst in the GOP runoff for Lt. Governor.
"If Patrick is the nominee, he will be the weak link. He will be the attack point for the entire Democratic Party," Patterson said on the Jack Riccardi Show on 550 KTSA.
Patterson, who finished last in Tuesday's Primary, says the Republican Party needs to be more inclusive.
"There's a lot at risk as it relates to the Republican Party," said Patterson.
Patrick fired back on the Jack Riccardi Show.
"When you drive the boat like we drove, to suggest that I would be the weak link is absurd, quite frankly" said Patrick.
He finished with a double-digit lead over Dewhurst Tuesday night and the winner of the runoff May 27 will face Democratic State Senator Leticia Van De Putte in November.
"I'm the guy the Democrats fear most because I can articulate in a debate against Leticia Van De Putte why our party matches up with the values and principles of a majority of Hispanic voters in Texas," said Patrick.
