S.A. Man Arrested in Denver Cold Case

by Elizabeth Ruiz

The FBI wants to know if a San Antonio man arrested in connection with a 1997 kidnap, rape and attempted murder in Denver, Colorado could be linked to other crimes here.

According to an arrest affidavit, 42-year-old Ray Ojeda abducted a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint, forced her into his truck and drove to a riverbank where he  raped her.

He allegedly threw her clothes in the river and when she tried to get away, he shot her in the forehead.

After he left, the victim somehow managed to get to the highway where she was picked up by a driver who took her to a truck stop where police were called.

FBI Special Agent Eric Vasys told 550 KTSA News the case had gone cold until a DNA match recently linked Ojeda to the crime and he was arrested in San Antonio Wednesday.

Anyone with information on other possible victims is urged to contact the FBI at 210-225-6741.
