SAWS Sewer Spill

by Elizabeth Ruiz

San Antonio Water System crews are cleaning up a sewer spill of more than 100,000 gallons in the city's West Side.

SAWS officials say Wednesday's heavy rains were too much for a sewer main near State Highway 151 at Military Drive West.

More than 100,000 gallons overflowed and went downstream along Leon Creek to Marbach Road, but SAWS says because of the vast amount of storm water in the creek, most of the sewer spill was diluted and there were no adverse effects.

Customers are urged to report water and sewer main breaks anytime of the day or night at 704-SAWS or 704-7297.
