SAWS to Fight GBRA Suit

By Bill O'Neil

A fight over water is brewing between SAWS and the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority.

At the center of it all is SAWS plan for releasing--and controlling treated wastewater as it makes it's way out of Bexar County toward the coast.

"GBRA has decided they don't like that action by SAWS--and they would like to retain control of that water, for sale to their own customers' said SAWS Greg Flores, who told 550 KTSA News the Board of Trustees has drawn a line--and is ready to fight.

"We have decided to protect the interests and assets of our rate payers and make ourselves a aprty to the lawsuit they (GBRA) filed in Austin last week" Flores said.

Flores said there's simply no reason for sucha  suit--given the public comment process already in place for addressing the plan.
