In fact, the prognosis from Bob Murdock is pretty grim.
"If I were a betting person, I would suggest that sequestration is going to take effect certainly in some form" Murdock told 550 KTSA News. He said Defense Department plans for furloughing the vast majority of civilian workers will leave a mark locally.
"For instance, installation management command at Fort Sam Houston is a large command that has a realtively high civilian government employee basis" Murdock said, adding "Needless to say we have a significant contractor presence in San Antonio, and I fear a sequestration could adversely effect a n umber of our various contractors at all three installations."
and, Murdock said the impact isn't likely to stop there.
"Quite frankly, one of my biggest concerns having served in the Air Force for over thirty years is the negative impact it could have on our installations infrastructure and maintenance."
