Storms knock out power to nearly 30,000 CPS Energy customers

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Another round of summer storms have dumped a ton of rain on the San Antonio metro area and knocked out power to tens of thousands of CPS Energy customers.

As of 4:20 p.m., 29,430 customers were without power.

“Our crews will work until everyone affected has their power restored,” said Rudy Garza, Senior Vice President of Distribution Services & Operations for CPS Energy. “I want our community to know that we have crews that take pride in what they do and their goal right now is to get the lights back on for those impacted.”

The rain has also prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Warning for central Bexar County until 5:45 p.m.

From the National Weather Service:

At 415 PM CDT, we received a report from a trained spotter of considerable flooding near the access road vicinity Walziem and I-35. Also, the City of San Antonio website shows several street closures.

The heaviest rain has pushes just to the east of the city of San Antonio but areas to the east and south are still dealing with heavy rain and possibly flash flooding.
