We hear all the time about the economic benefit of moving to Texas--but a new study says some Wisconsinites might do better if they stay put.
The research says some on fixed incomes will actually end up losing money if they relocate to the Lone Star State.
"We always assume if they come to Texas they're going to do better--because we don't have that state income tax. In the case of Wisconsin, that's gnerally true" said Pam Villareal, who authored the report. She told 550 KTSA News Wisconsin is certainly losing some of it's population to warmer weather states, but for those who aren't earning much, the math simply doesn't add up.
"They're probably not paying much in the way of Wisconsin income tax--but theya re paying Texas property taxes, and Texas is notorious for having some of the highest property taxes in the country" Villareal said.
