A baby girl given up by her mother under the Baby Moses Law is being check by doctors at a local hospital.
San Antonio Fire Captain Roy Willborn says a young woman in her twenties took the infant to the station on Hot Wells near IH 37 Thursday afternoon.
"She started crying and said she didn't want the baby," Willborn told 550 KTSA News.
The woman told them the newborn was less than 2 hours old.
"We asked her if she needed a ride to a hospital . She said no and took off," said Willborn.
Under the Baby Moses Law, a parent can turn over a baby up to 60 days old, to a hospital, fire rescue station or emergency medical technician without fear of prosecution.
