Another Annexation for Council

The San Antonio City Council votes Thursday morning on another annexation plan.

This one focuses on an area on 281 North or what the city has called the ‘commercial corridor.’

“It’s about 1.6 square miles from south of the current city limits all the way up to the Comal County line,” Deputy City Manager Peter Zanoni said.

Essentially, it’s about a 4.5 mile stretch of property.

“Annexing it will help to control growth, make sure it’s orderly, it will allow us to get some revenues and provide services to the area,” he said.

This was part of a council compromise. The original plan was to look at annexing commercial and residential areas, but Zanoni said the council decided to focus on residential property annex in 17 years.
