More hardware for Kawhi Leonard.
The San Antonio Spurs star is the first back to back winner of the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award in about 25 years.
“You’ve earned every bit of this” said Spurs General Manager R.C. Buford as Leonard was presented with the award at the team’s practice facility Monday Morning.
“Just playing my hardest basketball, being focused on the defensive end. That gives me the confidence to pressure my man… get in to the ball handler” Leonard said–pointing to all of the hard work he’s put in to his game.
Kawhi was also quick to give his teammates some credit.
“I felt like we all did a great job this year…. going in to each and every game… just being focused, knowing the team’s game plan and personnel” Leonard said.
Leonard is the first back to back NBA Defensive Player of the Year since Dennis Rodman in the early 1990’s.
