Another Week of Tumbling Gas Prices

Another week–and the same old story continues to play out at gas pumps in San Antonio–and across the Lone Star State.

New numbers from AAA Texas show the statewide average price per gallon of regular unleaded fell to $1.58 over the last week.

“That’s three-cents less than a week ago–and it’s 35-cents per gallon less than last year” the Auto Club’s Doug Shupe told KTSA News, adding the San Antonio average also tumbled to $1.56 per gallon over the last week.

“That’s two-cents less than a week ago, and 32-cents less per gallon than a year ago” Shupe said.

Meanwhile, it seems there’s nothing in the market that signals the trend will reverse any time soon.

“The national average had been under some upward pressure due to regional price spikes–most notably in California–but it appears as though those supply challenges have been resolved” Shupe said.

Right now, the highest average price at the pump in Texas can be found in Austin, the lowest in Amarillo.
