Apartment Fire Displaces Seven on Southside

By Elizabeth Ruiz

A big clean up is underway on the Southside after fire tears through an apartment building early Wednesday Morning.

The San Antonio Fire Department’s Woody Woodward told KTSA News the flames broke out just before 3 AM on Riverside Drive–near VFW Boulevard.

“A female resident who lived in an upstairs unit woke up… heard something… smelled smoke and called us” Woodward said.

No one was hurt by the fire, which appears to be the result of an electrical problem.

“She (the woman who called the fire department) notified other people of the fire. Everyone got out without injury” Woodward said.

A total of seven people have been displaced by the fire.
