Are You a “Distracted Parent?”

Could your smartphone or tablet be dangerous to your baby’s health?

Some researchers say it’s a possibility.

“It speaks to the importance of having regular patterns in your interactions with your child–and, a clear way to do that would be to set the phone aside when it’s reading time or play time” said Hal Stern at the University of California-Irvine.

Stern said such “distracted parenting” can disrupt your baby’s brain development, and even lead to emotional disorders later in life.

“As children become adolescents, one might expect effects on risk-taking behaviors” Stern said.
