Arrest Made in Westside Bar Shooting

Two shot dead outside a northwest side bar early Thursday morning.

And it was heady police work that led to an arrest.

It was routine patrol for two SAPD officers near Callahan Road around 2:30am, when they heard shots fired.

“They looked across the street, saw a vehicle leaving the bar there at a high rate of speed, they initiated a traffic stop,” SGT Jesse Salame said. Two people were inside that vehicle.

“While they were doing that, the call came out for shots fired at the bar,” he said. “When the officers got there, they found two males that were deceased.”

Salame said the officers put the pieces together quickly.

“They arrested the passenger in that vehicle and charged him with Capital Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm,” he said.

Police arrested Luis Munoz, 36.

“All this started with some type of disturbance in the bar; one guy accused the other guy of looking at him dirty or giving him dirty looks,” he said.

And it escalated from there.
