Arrest in Southside Shooting

An arrest made after a dispute on the Southside leads to gunfire–with deadly results.

It all began Sunday outside of an apartment complex on Jamar–near General McMullen.

“The suspect ended up following the victim northbound on General McMullen–eventually shooting him” said SAPD’s Officer Douglas Greene.

“There were several witnesses the detectives were able to interview” Greene told KTSA News, adding “They were able to develop some information on a suspect by the name of Matthew Zavala” Greene said.

Officers were then able to catch up with Zavala.

“The West Patrol officers as well as our SWAT team were able to locate him at his house–and he was taken in to custody without incident” Greene said.
