Arson Investigation

Maybe your ride home was impacted by that smoky fire that halted traffic on Interstate 35 yesterday afternoon. It may have been arson.

A vacant house along the freeway’s access road near New Braunfels Avenue went up in flames sending smoke across the highway, slowing and then finally stopping traffic as drivers couldn’t see what was ahead.

The San Antonio Fire Department says there were building materials burning inside the house and investigators are questioning someone about the fire.

Officials say strong winds blew smoke onto I-35 completely covering the freeway at one point.
