BCSO Deputy Killed in Crash

A Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy is dead after an early Saturday Morning crash in Selma.

Police there said Richard Hammock was off duty, and on his personal motorcycle when he crashed in to a truck that had lost control and crashed moments before on Southbound I-35 near Schertz Parkway at around 2 AM.

Investigators said Hammock was killed instantly in the crash. The driver of the truck was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center or treatment. At last check he was in stable condition.

Hammock had been with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office since September of 2003. He has been assigned to the Jail, Patrol, and had recently moved to the Bexar County Court Complex.
