Beards for SAPD Officers for a Good Cause

If you see SAPD’s finest in uniform sporting a beard or goatee this month, don’t worry they aren’t breaking any rules, in fact they’re probably helping raise money.

Typically, this is the rule for San Antonio Police Officers: “You can have a mustache, but you can’t have a goatee or a beard,” Sergeant Jesse Salame said.

In November, go ahead and throw those rules out.

“For the whole month of November, you grow a goatee or a beard, you make a donation for the cause, all the money goes to the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” he said.

So far, more than 300 officers have signed up to take part in the department’s ‘No Shave November,’ “so far we’ve already raised $15,000,” he said.

And it’s all for a good cause.
