Bexar GOP Vice-Chair to be Nominated Assistant Secretary at HUD

Another San Antonian appears poised to play a key role at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

President Donald Trump is out with plans for nominating Anna Maria Farias to serve as Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing.

“She’s going to do a great job… she’s been a leader here in Bexar County since 2015 as my Vice-Chair” Republican Party of Bexar County Chairman Robert Stovall told KTSA News.

Despite a rough recent few months at the polls for local Republicans, Stovall said the coming nomination clearly shows there is GOP talent in San Antonio–and he’s happy it’s being recognized.

“We have a lot of great qualified individuals here in San Antonio and in Bexar County” Stovall said.

On the other hand of course, Stovall said Farias will be missed.

“We’re happy that the Trump Administration saw that… we’re sad to see her go because she’s done such a great job–but we know this is of higher order and higher importance for the country… and we’re so happy for her” Stovall said.

Former San Antonio Mayors Julian Castro and Henry Cisneros have previously served as HUD Secretaries under Democratic administrations.
