Big Jump in S.A. Gas Prices

Feeling a bit of sticker shock after that pain at a San Antonio gas pump?

You’re not alone–with the Alamo City’s average making a big jump up over the last week.

“Texas, Florida, Louisiana have all seen significant increases tied to a mid-week increase in wholesale prices that occurred last week” Gasbuddy dot-com’s Gregg Laskoski told KTSA News, adding what have been low prices to begin with have added to demand for gasoline–helping to push prices at the pump up.

“Those low prices serve as a catalyst for leisure travel–it increases demand” Laskoski said.

In the more immediate term though, concern is growing over what potential impact Tropical Storm Colin might have on refinery activity in and around the Gulf of Mexico as it churns it’s way toward Florida.
