Commissioners to Take Up Deputies Contract, Spousal Fee

Bexar County Commissioners will look to make one very specific change when they take up the contract deal Friday agreed to by the Sheriff’s Office and the union representing its Deputies.

At issue is a $100 per month fee charged to the spouses of employees–if they elect health care coverage through the County–when they have options offered through their own workplaces.

“In that contract, we waive the $100 spousal fee” Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff told KTSA News ahead of the vote that will take place later this week.

“What this does is set it back on the stage to waive that fee not only for the Deputies–but for the other (County) employees too” Wolff said.
