Council To Hear Budget Proposal

Thursday, San Antonio’s budget writers show the City Council what they’ve drawn up for the coming year…

…and a couple hounds of tax justice are waiting.

“I’m expecting more of the same where there’s going to be a lot of fluff,” longtime activist George Rodriguez said.

He thinks the role of government should be limited and standard.

“What we’ve got quite often is our budgets that are inflated with all sorts of promises and political promises and projects that are political in nature rather than necessary,” he said.

“Well, I hope to see something substantially different than last year,” Bob Martin with the Bexar County Taxpayers Association said. “The homeowners got hit with about a 10% tax hike over the previous year.”

He hopes the City Council will reduce that tax rate this year.
