With less than a week to go until the runoff election to see who will represent District 1 on City Council, both candidates took part in a debate on the Jack Riccardi Show Monday afternoon.

The questioning began with talk about SB 4, the so called Sanctuary Cities Bill.

Current Councilman Roberto Trevino replied that he has been against the law since the beginning. He says San Antonio is a culturally diverse city and having a law like SB 4 in place would not be good for the community.

Challenger Michael Montano also spoke out in opposition of the law.

He says the city is doing the right thing by getting involved in a lawsuit being filed against the state. He says the constitutionality of SB 4 needs to be questioned.

The election is this Saturday.
