Early Morning Fire Blamed on Old Radio

An old radio is believed to be the source of a West Side fire that sent one woman to the hospital with burns. Sixteen people lived in the two-story duplex on West Travis near North Nueces.

“We did have one female who tried to extinguish the fire and she received second-degree burns, so she was transported to a local hospital,” said Woody Woodward with the San Antonio Fire Department.

The fire started just before 5 this morning.

“We do believe that the fire started from some sort of old radio in one of the rooms,” said Woodward.

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced families.
