Gas Prices Climbing Ahead of Mem Day

Gas prices around the Lone Star State continue to march up just in time for your Memorial Day Weekend trip.

“Six-cents more than last week–but, 45-cents less than last year” said Doug Shupe with AAA Texas, who told KTSA News the Statewide average climbed to $2.05 per gallon of regular unleaded.

That increase was fueled in large part by a big bump in the Dallas area.

“The Metroplex did see a high jump over the last week–in fact, up 15-cents per gallon in both Dallas and Fort Worth” Shupe said.

On the other end of I-35–and the price spectrum–you find the Alamo City.

“San Antonio drivers are paying the least in the State right now at $1.97 per gallon. Still below the $2 per gallon mark” Shupe said.

Still, the experts will tell you the added demand that will come with Memorial Day Weekend will continue to keep upward pressure on prices.
