Gunman Shot by Witness After Shooting Near Hotel

A man shooting a gun near a hotel on Bonham near 4th Street gets more than he bargained for–when a man nearby pulled out his own gun and shot him.

It happened late Thursday Night–after that nearby witness told the shooter to stop it.

“The suspect… the person that was arrested did not stop shooting–and, the witness felt he and his family were in danger” Sandra Pickell with the San Antonio Police Department told KTSA News.

That’s when the witness pulled out his own gun and shot the original shooter in the arm.

“The arrested person attempted to flee the scene shortly thereafter, and the witness detained the suspect until police arrived at the scene” Pickell said.

That original gunman was taken to a hospital. He now faces a number of charges, including deadly conduct, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.
