Hotel Deal Leads to Protest

A labor union is protesting the construction of a downtown hotel.

Danna Schneider form Unite Here says they don’t think taxpayer money, some 7 million dollars, should be used as incentive to get the project developed. She says they don’t think the hotel should be built at Hemisfair, which is a public park.

City Councilman Roberto Trevino says a lot of time went into researching the protect prior to it’s approval and it will actually breath new life into a blighted area of downtown.

We asked the Councilman about the 7 million in incentives and he told us the city views it as an investment and the money will make it’s way back to San Antonio through property and other taxes.
