HS Stars Shine Saturday

A big day for high school football stars Saturday inside the Alamodome.

It starts at Noon, when the U.S. Army All-American Bowl kicks off.

“These are the best of the high school football players across the country,” San Antonio Sports’ Mary Ullmann Japhet said. “We have one San Antonio kid who’s playing in that game, that’s Mark Johnson Jr from Steele High School.”

That game is broadcast nationally on NBC starting at Noon.

Then at 5pm Saturday, “after the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, will be the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game and that features the top high school seniors in the San Antonio area.”

Ulmann Japhet said 102 players from 54 San Antonio area high schools will play in that game.

“For many of them, they will be going on to college football, and it’s a great last time for them to play in front of the home crowd, in their high school uniforms,” she said.

The local game will be broadcast on CW35.
