Hurd: Trump’s Traveler Ban Puts Americans at Risk

Count Republican Congressman Will Hurd among those criticizing President Donald Trump’s “executive orders” banning travelers from seven “high terror risk” countries.

The San Antonio Congressman–who was a CIA officer and was recently appointed to the House Intelligence Committee said a “one size fits all” solution will not solve one of the most complex national security challenges faced by the United States.

“The executive order banning visa adjudication from seven countries does not make us safer, rather it decreases the security of our homeland and endangers the lives of thousands of American men and women in our military, diplomatic corps and intelligence services” Hurd said in a statement obtained by KTSA News.

The Congressman goes on to cite his concern for nearly ten-thousand Americans currently serving in Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

“A target has been placed on their backs by increasing tensions in an already volatile region” Hurd said, adding the way to solve the problem is through a tightening of visa loopholes, ensuring the right intelligence is shared with America’s allies, and using a number of tools to keep Americans from falling prey to ISIS propaganda.
