Hurd: VA Shooting Won’t Keep Him From Doing Job

By Bill O’Neil

A vow from Congressman Will Hurd–who insists the shooting rampage on a baseball diamond in Alexandria, Virginia Wednesday Morning will not keep him from doing his job.

“We’re not going to let something like this get in the way of us doing our job” the San Antonio Republican told KTSA News.

Hurd said he feels fairly secure–but his safety is something that occasionally crosses his mind.

“For a decade of my life I was always looking over my shoulder–and I continue that in this job” the former CIA Officer said, adding “The San Antonio Police Department, the Bexar County Sheriff–all of the Sheriffs that I interact with in my District have always been incredibly supportive of my team and I.”

Still, Hurd said now is certainly a time for reflection.

“It’s a time for all of us to step back and reflect on the rhetoric… about how we communicate” Hurd said.
