Making It Easier to See the City Budget

So what can the City of San Antonio buy for $237-thousand over the next three years?

How about your chance to take an in-depth look at the City’s budget?

“What open gov is going to do is allow our users to be able to navigate through the budget document a lot easier than it is today” said Assistant City Manager Maria Villagomez, pointing out that will include the ability to see the budget line by line.

he said the program–which will be up and running with the next City budget later this year–has proven it’s worth in other cities.

“Other large municipalities (using the program) include Los Angeles and San Diego” Villagomez said.

The program has plenty of backers on the Council.

“My belief is that City Government can only function if we maintain and increase trust wherever we can” said Councilman Ron Nirenberg.
