Man Caught in Crossfire as He Slept

An Eastside man is lucky to be alive after a late-night gunfight erupts outside of his home as he slept.

Police weren’t too far away as it all began to unfold before Midnight on Delaware–between South New Braunfels and South Hackberry.

“(Officers) overheard gunshots being fired–and shortly thereafter, a call came out for an individual who was shot in the leg” SAPD’s Officer Douglas Greene told KTSA News.

Police have very little to go on in terms of who the shooters might be–just the description of a light-colored car that may have been involved.

“Three was two vehicles exchanging gunfire” Greene said, adding “One of the vehicles was near the house where the victim was sleeping.”

As for the man who was shot, Greene said he’s expected to be ok.

“Thankfully, our victim was not mortally injured. This definitely could have been worse” Greene said.

Police are asking anyone who knows anything about what happened to give them a call.
