NBPD identifies man hit, killed by truck

New Braunfels Police Department has identified a man hit and killed by a truck in the 6200 block of IH-35 South early Saturday morning.

David Teniente Jr., 19, of Schertz was hit by a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. Teniente was unconscious, not breathing and lying in a grass median when first responders arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Teniente was struck by a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by an 18-year-old San Antonio man, according to a news release. Witnesses told police that Teniente was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of IH-35 when he was struck by the pickup.

Prior to the victim’s positive identification, NBPD was asking the public for tips on Facebook and had posted a couple pictures of his tattoos.

The incident is under investigation by the NBPD traffic unit. However, no charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the pickup.
