New Braunfels Department Store Hit By Thieves

New Braunfels police are looking for one of four people they say attempted to steal about $1,600 worth of merchandise from a department store last night.

Officers were called to the Belk Department Store at the Creekside Shopping Complex around 6 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, the four split into two groups and ran. Loss prevention staff at the store said the two women and two men were working together to steal perfume and cologne by concealing the merchandise inside the women’s purses.

A store employee did chase after one of the suspects and ended up being assaulted. When NBPD spokesman David Ferguson was asked if police recommend chasing after people accused of stealing, he said it depends on store policy.

Three of the suspects are currently at the Comal County Jail. They are Stephen Alexander Soto, 19, Lacie Nicole Hollinshead, 20, and Kelley Anne Flood, 19. All are charged with robbery; however, Hollinshead is also charged with evading arrest and Flood is also charged with failure to ID.

The case remains under investigation. Further arrests and charges may be pending.
