Open House Thursday on 1604 Improvements

Planned improvements along portions of Loop 1604 will be the topic for an open house meeting taking place Thursday Evening.

“That would include expanding Loop 1604 from a two-lane to four-lane divided roadway with shoulders, and adding pedestrian accommodations at various locations” Laura Lopez with the Texas Department of Transportation told KTSA News, describing the plans for 1604 between U.S. Highway 281 and FM 1303.

“This is an opportunity for folks that live int he area, travel the area, have businesses in the area (to weigh in on the plans)” Lopez said.

The meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 in the cafeteria at Southside High School. The work itself is still a number of months away.

“It really is not scheduled to let until next year… so construction is not scheduled to start until Spring 2018” Lopez said.
