A local historical preservation group is opposing the sale of part of Old Fredericksburg Road to a developer.
The project calls for a $30,000,000 upscale multi-family residential and commercial development in Leon Springs near Interstate Ten and Boerne Stage Road.
The group opposing it, The Old Spanish Trail Centennial Association, wants to preserve the old highway and plan a 100 year anniversary with a cross country motorcade re-enactment. 
Old Fredericksburg Road is part of the Old Spanish Trail, that was the midway point of a highway built in 1929 designed to promote automobile tourism.
