President Obama Coming to San Antonio

President Barack Obama will be in San Antonio on Tuesday  for a luncheon to raise funds for his campaign.

"In the past few years the president has come to Texas, he's been to Houston I think. But this is the first time that we've really had a concerted effort in San Antonio, and it's going to exceed all previous efforts that we've made in the area. I actually think that we'll raise more money than other cities," said U.S. Congressman Charlie Gonzales of Texas.

A luncheon is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in a ballroom at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center. The event was originally set to be held in a ballroom at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel across the street downtown, but it got to be so large that it had to be moved.

In fact, the event has already sold more than 1,000 seats, which is good news for the Obama Campaign as this is expected to be the most expensive presidential campaign in U.S. history.

"You can raise a good amount of money, but under the new Supreme Court decision of Citizens United you can have these super packs, where one individual can contribute $1,000,000 or even $10,000,000. We actually have had people contributing millions of dollars to actually defeat a candidate," said Congressman Gonzales.

Gonzales said that people don't really realize just how popular Obama is in Texas, because it's still considered such a red state.

"What they don't look at is the numbers here in the elections, and that is that San Antonio and other areas in Texas are really majority Obama supporters," said Gonzales. "And that's what's going to be demonstrated when the president is here."

Obama will also attend a smaller fundraiser in San Antonio at an undisclosed location after the one at the Convention Center before heading off to Austin.
